Volunteer Firefighter

The City of Paola has one position open for Volunteer Firefighter. This position will
answer to the administrative supervision of higher level staff. This position responds to fire alarms, hazardous materials, incidents, urban rescue and other calls to protect life and property; to participate in fire prevention and training; and maintain the station and firefighting equipment.

Minimum requirements:
• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral direction and safety practices.
• Must live within one (1) mile of the Paola Fire District.
• Valid Kansas driver’s license.
• Basic CPR certificate.
• Firefighter 1 & 2 certification or ability to acquire within 1 year.
• Pre-employment drug screening required.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Paola Police Department - Police Officer

The Paola Police Department is currently searching for motivated individuals for the
full-time position of Police Officer. The Paola Police Department consists of 18
sworn officers and 7 civilian employees as well as its own communications and
detention centers. Those selected to fill this position will be responsible for
enforcing local, state, and federal laws, investigating crimes, enforcing traffic
regulations, investigating traffic accidents, assisting the public, and serving on a
TEAM that takes great pride in serving and protecting its community. State
certified officers are preferred but not required. 

Salary - Starting salary range is $36,795 to $39,319 annually, DOQ. Other benefits
 included sick, vacation, and personal leave, furnished uniforms and equipment,
health, dental, and life insurance plans, and Kansas Police & Fire (KP&F) retirement.

Minimum Qualifications -  Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, must possess
a valid driver's license, must be in good physical condition, have no felony, no serious
 misdemeanor, or domestic violence convictions, be a US citizen, high school graduate
or GED, must pass written and oral exam, drug screen, physical fitness, physical exam,
 polygraph, and psychological. Certified Law Enforcement Officers must not have any
 Brady/Giglio material in their background to be eligible for hiring.
