Utilities Provided by the City of Paola
The City of Paola provides water, sewer, and trash utility services for residences in the city limits. No deposit is required for a new utility account.
Water is billed at a base rate of $25 (for a 5/8 inch meter) plus volume usage charges. Volume charges are $0.730 per 100 gallons. Rates for residences outside the city limits are higher.
The first month at your new residence, you will be charged a service charge of $23.00. After you have lived at a new residence two months, we take your total consumption of water for those two months and divide the same by two, resulting in an average consumption of water for your family. This figure is then multiplied by the sewer volume rate of $0.380 per 100 gallons and is added to your sewer service charge. You will be assigned this rate and keep the same until the next April billing. At this time the whole town is recalculated based on average consumption from the middle of December to the middle of February. Rates for residences outside the city limits are higher.
Your trash is picked up twice per week for a flat fee of $16.00 per month. Residences north of Peoria Street have trash pickup on Tuesdays and recycling pick up on Fridays, residences south of Peoria Street have trash pick up on Mondays and recycling pick up on Thursdays. The City contracts with L&K Services for trash pick up. Each household is allowed three 30 gallon bags or three 30 gallon trash cans of household trash, recycling is unlimited. They will gladly dispose of appliances or other large items at an additional charge. Please contact L & K Services toll free at 1-888-837-4640 to arrange for this service. L & K also has a 90 gallon poly-kart available for rental for $3 per month. They cannot pickup tires, batteries, liquefied paint or oil. Make sure your trash and recycling is available for pickup by 7:00 am.
Curbside Recycling: If your trash pick up day is Monday, Thursday is your recycling day; and if your trash pick up day is Tuesday, your recycling pick up day is on Friday. There is no limit on the amount of recyclable materials that can be set out at one time. [More Information...]
Storm Water Management Fund:There will be a $3 per month charge on all bills.
All water bills are mailed the last working day of each month. If you have not received your bill by the 3rd of the month, please contact our office at 259-3600 in case your bill was lost in the mail. Bills are due the 15th of the month. If they are not paid by the 15th of each month, a 10% penalty will be added to your bill. Unpaid two month bills will be disconnected. To reconnect, you will have to pay your entire bill plus a $25.00 restore charge. You can either bring your bill to City Hall, mail it or place it in the payment drop box located in the parking lot across the street to the north of City Hall.
