The City of Paola’s Land Development Ordinance specifies requirements for sign permits in the city. The information on requirements can be obtained by visiting the Planning / Zoning section of the website or by contacting the City Planning Department at (913) 259-3611.
The city does not allow any off-premise advertising/signs. All signs do require a permit, which are $25 per sign. The permit application can be obtained at City Hall 19 East Peoria or by downloading a printable Sign Permit Application form.
In addition to signs for businesses, the City of Paola also regulates other signs such as political campaign signs, garage sale signs, or other signs. These types of signs cannot be placed in street medians, right-of-way, or sight triangles at intersections. Additionally, no sign may be affixed to any telephone pole or traffic sign pole. Signs found in violation to these restrictions are subject to removal and disposal.
