City Provided Utilities

Utilities Provided by the City of Paola

The City of Paola provides water, sewer, and trash utility services for residences in the city limits. No deposit is required for a new utility account.

Water

Water is billed at a base rate of $27.50 (for a 5/8 inch meter) plus volume usage charges. Volume charges are $1.00 per 100 gallons. Rates for residences outside the city limits are higher.

Sewer

The first month at your new residence, you will be charged a service charge of $26.00. After you have lived at a new residence two months, we take your total consumption of water for those two months and divide the same by two, resulting in an average consumption of water for your family. This figure is then multiplied by the sewer volume rate of $0.420 per 100 gallons and is added to your sewer service charge. You will be assigned this rate and keep the same until the next April billing. At this time the whole town is recalculated based on average consumption from the middle of December to the middle of February. Rates for residences outside the city limits are higher.

Trash

Trash is picked up every Monday for a flat fee of $20.50 per month. The City contracts with Waste Management for trash pick up. Each household is allowed three 30 gallon bags or three 30 gallon trash cans of household trash. They will gladly dispose of appliances or other large items at an additional charge. Please contact Waste Management toll free at 1-800-631-3301 to arrange for this service. Waste Management also has a 90 gallon poly-kart available for an additional rental fee. They cannot pickup tires, batteries, liquefied paint or oil. Make sure your trash is out and available for pickup by 7:00 am.

Bulky Item Pickup

On the first trash collection day of each month, Waste Management will pick up one bulky household item, without additional charge. Bulky household items include a chair, couch, mattress, television, box springs, microwave, computer, etc. However, appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, or tires and construction materials cannot be picked up as part of this service. Place your bulky item next to your regular household trash on the first collection day of the month and they will pick it up!

Curbside Recycling

Recycling is collected on Thursday. There is no limit on the amount of recyclable materials that can be set out at one time. Make sure that your recycling is out and available for pickup by 7:00 am. [More Information...]
