Chief Building Inspector
The Building Inspection Department is led by Keith Myers. He is responsible for ensuring that all proposed structures are in compliance with current building codes.
The Building Inspector’s responsibilities include:
- Administers the City’s building and other construction related codes
- Consultations with builders, business owners, home owners
- Contractor License Program
- Enforces City Ordinances
- Fire/Life Safety Inspections
- Inspects new construction
- Investigates possible dangerous structures
- Issues building permits
The Code Enforcement Officer's responsibilities include:
- Responsible for serving and protecting the public through the enforcement of all City codes
- Investigates violations pertaining to inoperable vehicles and coordinates abatement of violating issues with the property owner
- Investigates violations pertaining to tall grass and weeds on private property and coordinate abatement with the property owner or abatement contractor
- Investigates violations pertaining to nuisances on private property including, but not limited to trash, junk, rubbish and coordinates with the tenant and/or property owner or designated abatement contractor
- Removes signs that are illegally placed within the public right-of-way
- Issues citations for City codes
- Testifies in court for City codes
- Gives advice on ordinances and general information to the public
